Las Nuevas Normas en 21 fotos

How our life here in Spain is different than in America in 21 photos:

1. Thinking in military time and writing dates backward.

2. Unrefrigerated eggs.

3. Pig legs everywhere (jamón serrano).

4. Never having to fill up my own gas tank.

5. Fireworks. Whenever. Wherever.

6. Sharing the roads with professional road bike pelotons.

7. The dentist giving our kids chocolate candies after filling their cavities.

8. Bidets in our bathrooms.

9. Finding snails in the fridge (farm fresh lettuce).

10. Paying €3 to €5 for quality wine.

11. Hauling our trash and recycling down three flights of stairs and across the street to the garbage bins.

12. Hearing the fluty tune of the "afilador" knife truck driving through the neighborhood (so you know to bring out all your dull knives to be sharpened).

13. Yielding to horse-drawn carriages.

14. Relying on good weather to get your laundry done.

15. Using Whatsapp rather than texting.

16. Street sweepers.

17. Stepping on snail shells that cover the ground after it rains (rather than worms).

18. Washing the car by hand.

19. Paying in cash and handing out our bank account number.

20. Siesta break in the middle of the day.

21. Waiting until midnight for the fiestas to begin and bringing the kids with.
